Natives of the West coast of Scotland, the Belted Galloway is a tough and
hardy breed, characterised by it’s rough curly coat and the white band around
the middle, thought to have originated through crossbreeding with a Dutch breed in
the early 1900s. These youngsters were on land beside the river, close to
the centre of Bakewell.
