Kingfishers can be tricky to photograph and even see. Often they are just spotted as a blue streak whizzing along a riverbank and swiftly vanish. Visiting Lakenheath reserve one evening, initially in search of Barn Owls was rewarded by a close encounter with this bird which was most accommodating and stayed close to the hide for some time fishing and stretching out wings to dry.
