Young Western Grey Kangaroo Print Kinchega National Park NSW Australia
Kangaroos leave the pouch permanently at about 11 months old, although they will continue to feed. This youngster was about the right age for leaving and didn't seem to want to return even when I stopped and pointed a camera at him. Living in the remote wilderness of Kinchega in the Australian outback it's unlikely he had much experience of people. I took the image in very shallow focus purposely to highlight him against the mother he was leaving behind.
