Product Description

A new and exciting garden workshop for 2025

Whether you have already been on one of our Garden willow workshops or are looking to create a really unique piece for your garden, this is a great new workshop to try.

In this three hour workshop we will make an ornate woven trellis or screen for your garden. Trellis can be up to five feet tall, and you can choose to make a shape or picture to put in the middle, to make the piece really individual.

For the examples I wove a dogwood and willow tree from fresh willow, a swallow from dry willow and borrowed a star from our Christmas tree workshop! However, you can choose to create your own design on the day. This works best sitting in a circle, but we can vary this to suit your design.

We will try to have as many different coloured willows available as possible. but feel free to also forage for fresh materials and bring along dogwood, ivy or other colourful branches.

We work in small friendly groups, making a selection of small items in each three hour session with a break for coffee/tea and cake.

We work with willow which has been grown in Somerset and specially dried. In order to be suitable for weaving it is then soaked to make it pliable, or sometimes with fresh unsoaked willow in very early spring. Most of the willow we use for early workshops will be fresh.

There is no age limit but children under 16 must be accompanied by a parent.

Willow is a lovely medium to work with and most people find weaving relaxing and therapeutic. However, it can be quite hard on the fingers. We can find ways to alleviate this for most people, but if you have arthritis or other mobility issues you might want to discuss this with Toni first to see what help we can offer.

Tools will be provided, but if you have them please bring:

Sharp secateurs or garden scissors (many people prefer using ones they are used to)

A pruning knife if you have one
