Sculpt your own Robin for the garden, or indoor display. Christmas lights can also be added to your Robin if you wish

This is a slower paced sculpture workshop. The Robin is a smaller sculpture and uses finer willow which is easier on the hands. Unlike our large animal sculptures, which require a fairly busy day and quite big willow rods to create, this sculpture can be made at a slower pace with lots of time to rest and contemplate your work. If you have issues with your hands or other mobility concerns, or just like to work at a slower pace - with lots of tea breaks - then this is a great, pressure free, workshop for you.

This willow Robin is made from three different coloured willows, with some added wire. He sits on feet drilled into a log ready for display.

Robins stand around 40cm tall.  We use a mixture of brown and red willows and sometimes dogwood too, to get the distinctive red breast.

We work in small friendly groups, with a break for coffee/tea and cake and lunch.

We work with willow which has been grown in Somerset and specially dried. In order to be suitable for weaving it is then soaked to make it pliable or sometimes with fresh willow in winter if harvesting is underway.

 There is no age limit but children under 16 must be accompanied by a parent.

Tools will be provided, but if you have them please bring:

Sharp secateurs or garden scissors (many people prefer using ones they are used to)

A pruning knife if you have one
