The Wild Wolves of Alberta Running Wolf. This print was taken in the Rocky Mountains Foothills, Alberta, Canada

Wolves are probably one of the most difficult wild mammals to find and photograph in the world.
Wary of, and often persecuted by, man, they tend to steer very clear of humans.
This pack of six wolves were photographed from a remote track in the Rocky Mountains in Alberta,
and stayed in the area for over two hours. The pack appeared to have got separated and
its possible they were more interested in locating each other than worrying about a couple of
photographers sitting in silent awe in a vehicle. The black wolf predominates in Alberta,
about 60% of the estimated 4,000 animals in the state are black.
