Four hour Wall Hanging Swallow Workshop with willow artist Toni Cross.
Make a giant wall hanging Swallow in this workshop with willow artist Toni Cross
Swallows can have an up to 3ft wing span, it all depends on how much you would like to weave!
This four hour workshop is 10am-2pm
This workshop takes place at High Lodge Visitor Centre in Thetford Forest
There is a charge for parking at High Lodge but workshop attendees can park for the discounted price of £5 and explore the forest too.
This is a 2D workshop creating a beautiful wall hanging Swallow in a variety of colours. There is a lot of weaving in this workshop, but it can be done sitting down and is easy to do, great for beginners and those with mobility needs.
We will have a variety of willows to choose from to vary your Swallow pattern. Your finished hanging can be hung indoors or outside and can also be varnished or painted with linseed oil to preserve it for outdoor use.
There is no age limit but children under 16 must be accompanied by a parent.
Willow is a lovely medium to work with and most people find weaving relaxing and therapeutic. However, it can be quite hard on the fingers. We can find ways to alleviate this for most people, but if you have arthritis or other mobility issues you might want to discuss this with Toni first to see what help we can offer.
Tools will be provided, but if you have them please bring:
Sharp secateurs or garden scissors (many people prefer using ones they are used to)
A pruning knife if you have one
Workshops include tea/coffee and cake. Please bring a sandwich for lunchtime.
